Lava Hotsprings & Glaciers

Day 1:                                  Reykjavik

Welcome to Iceland, arrive Keflavik Airport or Reykjavik domestic airport and pick your car rental and self drive to hotel. Check in and relax. Rest of the day at leisure to explore Rekjavik on your own. Reykjavik is a small capital and you will be on your way easily. You could enjoy a horse Riding session, Rekjavik beer tour, food or dinner cruise or a whale watching.

Reykjavik is an intimate city with a big personality and some striking landmarks - stroll down to the harbour to visit the Armoury, the new concert hall, the design streets and city hall.

Day 2:                                  Vik via geothermal spa, Laugarvatn Fontana

Head out towards Laugarvatn, 77 kilometres east, a small town with a lovely local hotsprings.

Grab your towel and enjoy a visit to a geothermal spa, Laugarvatn Fontana with it's hot spring bathing. Relax in the hot tub, built at a slightly higher level than the other baths, providing a panoramic view of the beautiful surroundings while the healthy water nourishes both body and soul. Three steam rooms and Finnish saunas are also there to be enjoyed. Feel alive with the dash between these amazingly beautiful hot pools.

Afterwards, head at your leisure, 60 kilometres south to this evenings hotel, stop along the way if you see Icelandic horses and wildflowers along the roads.

Day 3:                                  Day tour of Volcanoes and Glaciers

After breakfast, make your way up to the Sólheimajökull glacier, where you will join a glacier walk with an experienced guide.

The Sólheimajökull glacier tongue extends from the great Mýrdalsjökull glacier, down to the sandy plains of the Icelandic south coast. The spectacular surroundings are marked by rugged and majestic rock formations thoroughly shaped by the glacier. This is an easy walk on crampons up onto the ice field where a wonderland of ice sculptures, ridges and deep crevasses await your discovery. From the beginning of the tour an experienced glacier guide will teach you how to use basic ice equipment, crampons and ice axe required for your trip into this magical frozen world.

This tour is dependent on the weather being fine and the amount of daylight hours available. We will endeavour to make the day fun and adventure filled. However, if the weather closes in, enjoy the lovely surrounds and cosy hotel. Relax in the lounge tonight, enjoy your dinner and sit back enjoying the peace of countryside Iceland.

Day 4:                                  Black beaches, Rock formations and Volcanic

After breakfast, head off in your own car to explore the area of Vik. Head down to the black beaches, have a look at the amazing rock formation of Dyrhòlaeyand Reynisfjara in the distance. During nesting time, you might even see a puffin or two.

Stop to skip volcanic stones by Reynisfjara beach where there are unique basalt columns, black sand and caves.

Do as you will in this magical landscape, climb some mountains and enjoy the view from there before heading back home to your cosy hotel.

Day 5:                                  Highlands Adventure, touring and Glaciers

Iceland´s highlands are different, amazing, scary, beautiful - all at the same time. Ice climbing, glacier walk, mountain hiking can all be on offer today, however, deciding on what to do is weather dependent. Today's activities are optional.

Day 6:                                  Reykjavik

Today is a day of meandering back to Reykjavik, at your leisure. Either drop off the car rental at airport or you could extend your stay.
